The Soroptimist Women's Opportunity Awards give women the resources they need to improve their education, skills, and employment prospects. Each year, Soroptimist clubs in 19 countries and territories assist women in overcoming personal difficulties and bettering their lives through education and skills training.
This scholarship award is for $1,000. Recipients become eligible to receive region-level awards of $5,000 and then become eligible to receive one of three $10,000 International-level finalist awards.
Eligibility Requirements:
Women with primary financial responsibility for supporting your family (including children, spouse, siblings and/or parents; attend or have been accepted to a vocational/skills training program or an undergraduate degree program; and have financial need; and be motivated to achieve your educational and career goals.
Ineligible to apply:
Previous Women's Opportunity Awards recipients, women who already have an undergraduate degree and Soroptimist members, employees of Soroptimist, and the immediate families of both.

Washington State Nurses Scholarship
Deadline: February 12, 2010
The Washington State Nurses Foundation (WSNF) annually will award a minimum of four $1,000 scholarships ot qualified students preparing for a career as registered nurses in Washington State.
Eligibility:
Undergraduate student applicants must be enrolled in an approved program leading to an associate or baccalaureate nursing degree, and MUST HAVE COMPLETED AT LEAST 12 NURSING CREDITS (Credits from LPN programs do not apply). Graduate students applicants must be admitted to an approved graduate nursing program.
Eligibility Qualifications:
• WA State resident or enrolled in an RN program in Washington State
• Minimum GPA 3.0
• Undergraduates enrolled in a Washington state approved BSN program
• Graduates admitted to a CCNE accredited graduate nursing program
• Licensed RN applicant must be a WSNA member

To recognize and promote excellence in nursing care of mothers and babies, the March of Dimes offers several $5,000 scholarships annually to registered nurses enrolled in graduate programs of maternal-child nursing.
Eligibility Requirements:
* Applicant must be a registered nurse.
* Applicant must currently be enrolled in a graduate program in maternal-child nursing at the master's or doctoral level.
* Applicant must be a member of at least one of the following professional organizations: the Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses; the American College of Nurse-Midwives; or the National Association of Neonatal Nurses.

Center for Excellence in Nursing Education (aka Learning Lab)
Clinical instructors at the UW School of Nursing fulfill a wide variety of roles. The following description is meant as an example of a unique BSN clinical instructor role.
Roles and Responsibilities of the TA include: DEMONSTRATE COMPETENT NURSING PRACTICE SPECIFIC TO INPATIENT PEDIATRICS and INSTRUCT STUDENTS.
Logistics: Direct, instruct, and guide students in the CENE lab setting. Students will be assigned weekly to a lab Pediatric rotation. All learning activities will take place in the School of Nursing learning lab (CENE).
Teach PEDS: Students will augment their hospital clinical rotations with PEDS specific assessment, and new born assessments as well as clinical scenarios related to the care of patients with pediatric specific complications. Computer interactive newborn, pediatric and adolescent human patient simulators will be utilized to provide a more “real” learning and teaching environment. Engage students in comprehensive, individualized instruction in the observation, assessment, decision-making, and health teaching of simulated pediatric clients.
Qualifications:
Be a competent practitioner of nursing with a Master of Nursing degree and unencumbered RN license in the State of Washington and must be a Nursing Graduate Student in good standing.
Experience in Pediatrics required.
