The Tacoma General Hospital School of Nursing Alumnae Association created the Legacy Scholarship program to honor the school and its graduates and to preserve its history and values. The scholarships defray costs for nursing students in their final year of study.
To be eligible for the Legacy Scholarship program, applicants must be entering their final year of education to become a Registered Nurse at a school of nursing located in the state of Washington. Applicants are encouraged, but not required, to apply to MultiCare Health System for a position after graduation. MultiCare will make every effort to place individuals in their areas of interest, however, positions are not guaranteed.
A scholarship recipient may elect to use this award for tuition, in which case the award will not be taxable and will be transferred directly to the recipient’s school. In the alternative, a recipient may elect to use the award for living expenses. In this case, the award will be taxable income and will be sent directly to the recipient.
