BNHS TA Needed - NCLIN 302

Teaching Assistant Position(s) (25-50% FTE) Summer Quarter 2012

Two Teaching Assistants are needed (1-50%, 1-25%) in the Department of Biobehavioral Nursing and Health Systems to provide support for NCLIN 302: Practicum: Health Assessment. This course, which is the first in a series of clinical courses, emphasizes beginning nursing skills in using the nursing process, communicating, interviewing, and performing a health assessment of the individual and an introduction to family assessment. Class is held on Monday mornings from 8-11:20am. Sections meet Monday afternoons, Wednesday all day, and Friday mornings. Students are baccalaureate nursing students in first quarter of the curriculum. Roles and Responsibilities of the TA (or RA or SA) include:

  • Teaching Assistant will work with the instructor to provide assistance and support with class and course materials:
  • Teach small groups of novice RN students nursing assessment and psychomotor skills in the learning lab.
  • Attending class and assisting with equipment set-up for course instruction and in-class assignments
  • Course record-keeping
  • Posting and updating course material on the course web page
  • Assistance in tracking student assignments, attendance and other matters related to administrative tasks
  • Grading quizzes and other course assignments
  • Providing support for testing including proctoring exams, taking scantron to upper campus, and creating and offering review sessions
  • Other duties as assigned when needed
Required:
  • Must have strong Word and Excel skills and adeptness to learn new software, particularly Moodle and multimedia projectors, etc.
  • Must have strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Must be available to attend lecture and some of the sections.

  • Learning Lab teaching experience
  • RN experience
