Teaching Assistant Position

NSG 530

A Teaching Assistant is needed to provide support for NSG 530: Professional Identity and Leadership. This course is a required course for the DNP program. Class held class on Tuesday evenings 5:30-8:30p. Instructor: Dr. Marie Annette Brown, Department of Family and Child Nursing.

Roles and Responsibilities of the TA include:

  • Student TA (prefer PhD student or post doc) or part time faculty seeking more work
  • Strong interpersonal skills required and leadership experiences preferred (not necessarily management). Enthusiastic about helping students learn and patient with students stresses
  • Primary responsibility for helping instructor manage group projects occurring during class on Tuesday evenings 5:30-8:30p
  • Facilitate small online work groups of distance students via on Connect Pro Live while instructor works with students in class. (Training and support available)
  • Manage selected teaching strategies used during class such as clickers
  • Assist with provision of feedback to students on their writing skills
  • Assist connections between students and faculty and among their peers
  • Work with selected students to provide individualized assistance about course assignments to selected students
