TA Position - NURS 405

TA 50% Position Spring 2012

A Teaching Assistant is needed in the Department of Biobehavioral Nursing and Health Systems to provide support for NURS 405: Adult/Peds. Assist in all aspects of teaching a large undergraduate nursing course, addressing acute care of ill adults and children. Run review sessions with students, tutor and mentor students, prepare tests, coordinate activities with instructors, lecturers, faculty, and students. Manage course website. Please visit the UW Time Schedule for specific times and days that the class is offered; must be available on Mondays from 10:30‐2:30p and Wednesdays from 8:30‐12:30p.

Roles and Responsibilities of the TA include:
  • Grading problem sets and other assignments
  • Taking answer sheets to upper campus for grading
  • Course record-keeping
  • Moodle website maintenance and support (posting of materials, etc)
  • Course support activities such as communications with faculty, guest faculty, and students
Qualifications:
  • Must be Nursing Graduate Student in good standing.
  • Must have strong Word and Excel skills
  • Must have strong organizational skills
  • Acute care clinical experience as an RN
  • Teaching experience
